Weekend Wrap Up

Brenna is napping, Addie is watching Swan Lake and at long last I am updating the blog.
This past weekend was a whirlwind of activities in house - two dance recitals, family in town and Brenna's baptism.

Addie has been taking ballet and jazz since September and had her "big show" on Friday and Saturday.  She pranced on to the stage with such poise that my heart almost burst.  She pointed her toes, she smiled from ear to ear and she danced her heart out.  Sure each girl on stage seemed to be doing a different dance, but nonetheless they danced and danced.   Addie would search the audience and smile a little wider when she found us...she would also give a thumbs up and a few little waves.

Addie had quite the crowd cheering her on - Gramma Kathy, Grandma Patty, Aunt Nikki and GG all came to opening night, as well as our friends Aaron and Hilary.  Saturday's show had not only Gramma Kathy (yes she went to both performances), but Uncle Brian, Aunt Kelly and a few of our neighbors.  What can I say?  The kid is a star.
The recitals were two hours long...but so very entertaining.  The best part, of course, was the grand finale of the father daughter dance.  Over 50 fathers and daughters got on stage and danced to songs from Grease - Addie and Andy swayed to Beauty School Drop Out and I sat in the audience laughing and crying.  Mostly laughing.  Andy strategically was in the back row so the pictures I got were pretty poor...but the professional video will be arriving shortly.

Sunday was all about Brenna - we finally got her baptised.  She didn't cry at all and she still today smells like church, even after a bath.  Brenna lucked out with godparents - Andy's sister Kim and our dear friend Aaron will serve as her moral compasses.  My parents and brother traveled in for the ceremony and we had our families and friends over for a cook out and one last party before the kitchen renovation begins.

We had such a great weekend involved in all the Neyer festivities. I cried as well when Addie and Andy were dancing. I loved the chance to hold Brenna and take in all of her loveliness. Thanks for being such great neighbors and including us in your lives.
